  1. Having sailed both boats I always loved the Hustler, very fast little boat for for 25 feet, very stiff in a blow, but unlike the UFO, she needs a blow to get her going. The UFO on the other hand is faster more so in lighter winds, has much more room below (thats the reason we changed to the UFO) The Hustler would suffer from rudder stall when beating to wind when a gust came but other than that she was a fab boat and a pleasure to sail. The ufo is a little more tender and not so forgiving, in heavy winds the hustler would always be hunting me down if not cathing (now she is owned by my brother who bought her from me). Both fab boats but for seakeeping go for hustler.
If you havent bought and want to compare the two we are berthed next door to each other in Poole and you or more than welcome to come and see...

  9. Hi all,
Awesome, finally some other UFO owners. I bought my Colvic UFO31 in May 2012, pretty run down, but worked hard over the last two years and will have her ready for the coming season 2015. Can't wait.
    Cheers!

  11. Hi all of you,
Nice initiative but not yet very active, so here some news. I postpose my departure to next april, now working hard to prepare the boat for that long trip, leds, solar panels, windvane steering, radar, AIS, second stay for easyer single handling with a solent (or "trinquette"), re-rigging, third reef in main, 5 m² storm jib ..
To whom searching to buy a UFO34, don't hesitate, an old lady but a very good sailboat for not much money, fast and stable (AVS 145° !), if you find a Landamores fitted, nice, like mine and i got one with original tiller.
Questions are welcome, suggestions too... Just a short mail to tell me that you wrote something down here. jvdli@yahoo.fr and I come and see.
    Nice end of the year
    Jean
SANDETTIE raced all her life, fastnets, (the '79 one!) cowes weeks, Solent and Britany events, now she will cruise to the sun.
